Discovering Milton

Our view.
The sunset from "Milton Spa".

Pigeon House Mountain we did not get to the top of!! Others fitter and younger did. Ha, ha.
.
The views from where we got to were fantastic.

After seeing how crowded Ulladulla was with holiday makers from Sydney (only about 250km away) we travelled a little further on to a tiny town called Milton where we found a place to set up home. It was at the Milton showgrounds - $18 a night - amidst rolling green fields, hills, passing herds of cows, beautiful sunsets - everything that suited us. Felicity's posh friend from Sydney thought we were staying at "The Milton Spa"!! From then on, we called the showgrounds - our accommodation -  "The Milton Spa"!
We've loved it here, exploring the whole area, taking it in turns using each other's cars. We've climbed mountains - high ones!! - gone bush walking to see the beautiful views from the Budawang Ranges, been marketing at the smallest farmers' market, walked around the little town, driven through the amazing forests in the area, seen the place where Felicity and Brian's daughter is getting married in January, had picnics, shared dinners in the smallest restaurants viz our caravans. We have felt so lucky to be in such a beautiful part of the world.
As we look at our map it seems that we will be in NSW for a long time. It is beautiful.
Tomorrow we are off to Kangaroo Valley.
Small harbour at Ulludulla

Leaving Canberra to Ulladulla via Braidwood and Batemans Bay

Canberra was starting to get very cold and we wanted to begin making our way to the east coast of NSW to places we haven't seen before. We spent one last day in Canberra after the festival going for a ride on our bikes, a drive to a special tea place (which was a bit disappointing) and having a big tidy and pack up session.

Canberra is a lovely city to visit, and in places is very, very quiet. No one around!

On our way to Ulludulla, a town on the south coast highlands in NSW, we stopped for tea and explored a lovely little town called Braidwood, a restored, heritage town with the Catholic Church and other buildings being built in the 1850's.
Chris met a guy who was waiting for his wife so the two of them sat together and chatted and chatted while I was able to explore all sorts of lovely places up and down the street.
I love exploring all the nooks and crannies of little towns!

The National Folk Festival, Canberra.

An exciting sign for me to see. All so well organised. So glad we came.
Most people were in their best hippie clothes.
We know a few people who could have used this!
A hippie outfit???
Street acts are always interesting?!
Some good music.
A freezing morning but most festive.
An AMAZING group.. South African/Australian mix. Brilliant.
(Valanga Khoza)
Being mesmorised by Kate Fagan on the Budawang stage.
Had to meet her to let her know I first heard her sing about 15 years ago...was mesmorised by her singing in Fairbridge Chapel...was mesmorised yet again, only this time she played with an amazing band. Went to see her on 2 days.
A broomstick is normally my transport but this made a great bass.

Jordie Lane. Brilliant music.

This was the Recycled String Band who played some great folk blues. Excellent.  All their instruments were made from old pots, pans, hubcaps and other recyclables. It has inspired Chris to construct his own bass uke.
Some more great music.
A community music group...the way to go. Such fun....all ages....all types of instruments. We will have to try and find a community music group when we get back to Perth. I'll have to play the triangle!!
