Dairy country - The Tablelands

This is a most beautiful part of Queensland - the Tablelands - 2 hours west of Cairns across The Great Dividing Range. Last time we visited it was covered in mist but because of the lovely sunny weather we have been having we have had no mist. A pity because we loved the mist.  The Tablelands consist of rolling green hills, forests and waterfalls.
We found a wonderful caravan park with  rainforest sites in a tiny place called Millaa Millaa and have stayed here for 4 nights. It has been freezing at night but once we're up and step into our little piece of rainforest the sun warms us up quickly.
We have visited most of the waterfalls in the area which always entails walking through
cool rain forests and mud!

Oh....the mud!! Very slippery.

We met these backpackers from Europe who had decided to swim
in one of the waterfall pools. Freezing...

Millaa Millaa falls with 2 Irish backpackers we met who also
had to swim in the waterfall pool.

We spent a day in and around Atherton, drove to Ravenshoe - Queensland's highest town, and visited the historic towns of Yangeburra and Herberton.
We have loved our 4 day sojourn in the rainforest and are slowly getting ready to travel further north.
Queensland is truly a beautiful place to visit in the winter.

This gorgeous statue in the middle of the road in Millaa Millaa.

The founders of the area.

Trying to get our washing dry in the rainforest.

All around us.
