Townsville

We eventually arrived in Townsville though stayed 20km out of the town as the V8 Supercars were on and most caravan parks were full. The place we stayed was mostly for permanents, not where we usually stay...and Chris ended up being called by the neighour to help lift her partner, an old man of 75, who had fallen in his van and couldn't get up. It all ended up with Qld ambulance service coming and with us seeing first hand the plight of aged homeless living in caravan parks. Not a pretty sight!

The old man's home for the last 3 years. He just couldn't carry
on driving so parked here and stayed on.

The view of our park....not the usual lovely places we have stayed.
There was a nice field behind us but the owner didn't put us there
as we were only staying 2 nights.

We spent a day in Townsville reminding ourselves of some of the nicer places that we had seen before. We also managed to get a new set of tyres for Cape York. Our blue rinse lady Isuzu is slowly undergoing gender reassignment so that "he" gets us safely to the northern tip of Aus!! Very exciting and so many helpful people wherever we go.

Townsville has a lovely walk along the front that looks out to Magnetic Island and the
ocean - The Strand. The only thing is that it is too dangerous to swim because of stingers, sharks and crocs!
