Airlie Beach

Airlie Beach, a backpacker's paradise, is the gateway to the Whitsunday Islands. Last time we were here we went around the islands on a day cruise which I will always remember. This time we chose to gaze at the islands from the foreshore of Airlie Beach which is a treat on its own. We had to take the short drive from our lovely caravan park each day into the town so I could just suck in the views!! The harbour with all the boats anchored around the bluest bay surrounded by thick rainforest is truly magnificent. I had to come back here again! We stayed 4 days before heading up through Bowen and onto Townsville.

The blue of the bay is always breathtaking as we drive into Airlie Beach.

Caravan Park.

This cute little fellow was in our power box as we were setting up home.

Someone with talent and having fun!

The whole of the foreshore is lined by park and shade trees.

The pool....with no irrikandji.

The main street.

We had the best fish and chips ever.

Low tide.

Where to get on a boat to sail the Whitsundays.

Shute Harbour just outside of Airlie Beach.

We treated ourselves to a good coffee here.

A great cafe with a special view.

Parts of Airlie Beach are definitely for the rich and famous.

Building a battery box for our 2nd battery to keep our fridge going while we go up to
Cape York.

Our neighbour across the way.

Our view.

Our home for 4 days.
