Crossing the Kimberleys to arrive in Broome

I have always loved travelling the road from Katherine in the NT through the Kimberleys to Broome in WA. Along the way we passed through Timber Creek, Kununurra, , Halls Creek and Fitzroy Crossing also a free stop at Marys Pool. The days start off fairly cold but very soon the temperature rises to about 30 deg. The landscape is rugged and dry and every now and again there were fire warnings. Luckily the scrub on the ground is not dense like in the SW of WA so the fires can quickly burn out.
One would need a longer time in a well kitted off road van to explore the Kimberleys as all roads leading to waterfalls, swimming holes and other majestic places are on rugged 4wd tracks. (The Bungle Bungles are along the way which we have explored twice before using our tent. Cape York is all we had planned for this time.)

A lovely caravan park under the trees - Timber Creek.

Victoria River

Lots of boabs along the way.
