Getting to the northern tip of Australia........and other places

The main aim of most travellers to Cape York is standing at the northern most tip of Australia. It was something we were really looking forward to doing. From Seisia where we were staying it was 40 kms of more very rough road.....not a simple drive to the tip.....and then a hike over some cliffs to get to the tip. Well we got there and it was a pretty emotional experience. Amazing and unbelievable is all I can say!!!

The road along the way through lush rain forest. Cape York has
everything.

A souvenir shop along the way run by very nice people.

Views from the beginning of the hike to the tip.

Just stunning.

Nearly there.

Chris got there first.

We made it!

Taking someone's photo.

This couple got bogged just before us. (See below.) We
didn't know it then.

Lots of stray dogs too.

A side trip to Somerset Beach.

A beautiful, calm corner.

Old gravestone of the earliest Japanese pearl divers.

A very beautiful place.

Mangroves reclaiming the land.

More mangroves.

We had a picnic lunch here.

What the????

Oh dear, our car now.

The front of the car. I called it "the cockpit". Anything that couldn't fit
in the back of the car came in the cockpit.

BOGGED!!!! Supposed to be a side trip to Somerset Homestead.
We didn't get there as it was getting late in the afternoon.

One should let the tyres down BEFORE one attempts sandy tracks.

Well and truly BOGGED.

The Master trying to get UNBOGGED!!

Thank goodness for the maxi tracks - part of our recovery gear.

De Missus carrying the tracks that saved us from a night
in the sand.

I think I need a shower.

We need to get home........ now!!!!
