Leaving Cape York

After our incredible trip to the top we now had to brace ourselves for driving back down to normal civilization. We DID NOT want to lose any part of the car or break down in any way. It is way too remote. We planned on taking 3 days to drive down but managed to do it in 2 days by sleeping over once more at Archer River. Pitching our home was getting rather tiresome and everything was FILTHY, red and dusty. We needed to get  clean....ourselves and our things!!

Filling up one last time in Seisia.

We visited this beautiful place at Imagico before we left.

We had to look...as this is where we would come and stay if
we ever came again!!

Oh, the road!!!

The road....

More red earth.

Waiting at the ferry. Someone heading north.

Our turn to head south...finally.

The last of the tour buses.

The road....

No more ranger stations and OTT.

The road.......

No more pink sat dishes.

The road.....

More majestic ant heaps.

A piece of pink bitumen. Hooray!

Saying goodbye to the wandering stock.

Poor tent. Looking a bit worse for wear.

Is this our car??

Poor "white" car.

"I am going to miss this SO much."

Catching the last sunset along our way with the cows.

"Where the *#^* does all this stuff go?"

"I think I have had about ENOUGH!"

De missus gaily continues to apply mascara!

Beauty in the bush!!!!!!

The road leaving our camp at Archer River.!!!

Some journalists or film-makers making a documentary on Cape York.

When will we camp here again?

Leaving Archer River.

The beautiful outback.

Cannot pass by without looking in creek beds for birds.

Our last roadhouse stop.

Sorry....we were NOT passing by the Split Rock where ancient
Aboriginal Art has been discovered.

The view from the hike to the art.

Along the hike to Split Rock.

Finally......

After completing our amazing journey to Cape York we decided that Cape York is not for the faint hearted, you cannot take yourself too seriously, everyone in the region is in the same boat and there will be help around the corner if you're in trouble though it may be a L O N G wait, we will appreciate everything we have....and once you have been to Cape York you will never be the same again.
IT WAS WORTH EVERY MINUTE AND WE LOVED IT ALL...DESPITE THE SNORERS, THE OUTRAGEOUS
4 WHEEL DRIVERS, THE RED DUST AND THE CORRUGATIONS.
Not too sure though, when or IF we'll ever go again!
